My dad was on the board for many years, my mom supported the school in many ways, from putting together programs and brochures, to taking pictures of events, to helping organize activities as much as she was able. They loved the community and mission of Tandem. Meaningful educational spaces that elevate and inspire are hard to come by, especially when some of what they provide is not measured in dollars and cents, but in feelings and inspiration, and a sense of community. That’s what Tandem gave me and I hope it continues to provide for others. Especially today when so many things are measured in standardized tests and graphs and charts, portfolios of experience are particularly hard to calculate, and these spaces are in danger of disappearing. I wish I had more to give.

Tandem is a place where I can focus deeply on the craft of teaching, connecting with students, and being a life-long learner. It is an amazing place to grow as a professional and increase my own mindfulness, empathy and engagement in this world. I choose this place for myself and for my own kids. We all get to be ourselves!
